Why you should consider venue uplighting for your event

When asked about the most important thing for their wedding guests, many couples say music. But just as important as the music that is played is the lighting of the venue throughout the wedding. When the party kicks off and the venue lights turn off, the DJ’s lighting is key. There will likely be flashing DJ lights, but there should also be some sort of ambient lighting throughout the room to set the mood and keep the room from getting too dark. If the room is too dark, the photographer or videographer may use spotlights that might detract from your party. This is where uplighting comes into play: small lights set up around the room to create a wash effect that will light up the room and set the mood for the evening.

Uplighting can be set to any color to match your theme. To ensure your photos come out fun and flattering, your DJ should use soft colors or pastels rather than dark or neon colors. The types of lights your DJ uses are also important. It is important to have high quality lighting rather than lasers and dot party lighting, you know, the stuff you see at house parties. Not something you’d want at your special event. The stands that lights are set up on can also enhance the look of the wedding if done right. Latin Summer Wedding at the Milcreek Inn

Summer Utah weddings are beautiful and fresh, especially up Millcreek Canyon where you’ll find the Millcreek Inn nestled up the tree-lined twists and turns of the mountain. I had the pleasure of entertaining for a wedding over the summer with a mix of both english and spanish music. As a latin dj in utah, this is my favorite way to play, mixing music from two different cultures and seamlessly blending them together. Utah latin weddings, where the latin dj gets to play both spanish and top 40 music give you the best of both worlds and bring the biggest amount of energy to the party. The Millcreek Inn provided a magical mountain backdrop for all of this to take place. I love being a latin dj that can make both your hispanic side of the family and the american side party and dance together all night long.

Weddings and new regulations in 2020

Now trending in 2020, micro weddings! That was really an email I received about weddings recently. Geez. Of course things very different from what we expected this year to be, and the hardest part is rules for events continue to change as time goes on. As of June 10th, 2020, here are a few of the rules that Salt Lake County has implemented and recommended for private events.

1. Make sure the venue has filled out the attestation form and submitted to their county.  Have the attestation form on display at the venue for guests to see.

2. Maintain social distancing of households at ceremonies and meals meaning everything is assigned seating.

3. No passed apps or cocktails.

4. Dance floors are OK, but discouraged due to inability to maintain social distance.  One solution is to have a basket of masks by the dance floor for guests to use. Another option is to use multiple dance floors.

5. There will likely be no changes to event guidelines when the state moves from yellow to green.

6. The chance of moving from yellow to orange is slim and would only happen if our hospitals no longer had capacity.

7. Guests need to assume responsibility for their own health and the health departments are not interested in policing and breaking up events.

2019 was a beautiful year for weddings. One such wedding I had the privilege to entertain was hosted at River Bottoms Ranch in Midway, Utah. This amazing venue was just a few turns away from Park CIty, Utah, and less than an hour outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. The views, team, and energy at the ranch was just stunning. For the couple, I played a blend of eclectic top 40 music to a variety of lively Latin wedding hits. As a Latin dj, I take pride in being able to mix from traditional English hits to some of the deeper Spanish cuts during a blended or multicultural wedding.

Your Wedding in 2018

A wedding is a once in a lifetime moment. It is a moment that will be talked about for years to come. Not only for the bride and groom, but for the friends, family, coworkers, and companions that will be in attendance as well. It can be extremely stressful to plan.

Weddings should be enjoyed. My role is to be your partner, not just a vendor. We sit down, consult, and make sure you feel comfortable and excited about what is to come. We lay out the evening, schedule of events, and song list so you can truly enjoy your night.

The Fountain View Event Venue - Karla's Wedding

I had the amazing opportunity to entertain for Karla and Adrian's Wedding in June 2017. This was a venue I've never been to, the Fountain View Event Venue in Farmington's Station Park overlooking the open-air mall's central fountain. The venue made it extremely easy to walk through and setup as needed. 

I came recommended to Karla from a family member, which made the event even more special. They were familiar with my work as well at Club Karamba, so they knew what kind event they could expect. Karla and Adrian met with me several times to go through the schedule of events, meet at the venue, and go through the setlist for the evening. Each event is unique in that I work to understand each event's aspects: where is a family coming from, ages, what their likes/dislikes are, who is going to dance, any inside jokes, all in an effort to create the perfect energy for the evening. 

Karla and Adrian's wedding was just perfect, filled with family, friends, a beautiful venue and party to leave them with memories to come. We made sure that we played to all groups, some Country, Latin Tropical, Mexican, and Top 40/pop for all those groups attending the wedding.
