Is your favorite DJ on Twitch?
With quarantines and state-wide closures, people are turning to online social networks for their entertainment. There is one platform that has gained some new popularity this year, Twitch. Twitch is a platform for live streaming offering nearly anything you’d want to watch, from music, Q&A sessions, and of course, what ultimately catapulted Twitch’s popularity, gaming.
Recently, Facebook and Instagram have been cracking down on DJ live streaming, leading to a rise in popularity of Twitch amongst DJs. At the beginning of quarantine in March, I originally started live streaming on Facebook and Instagram to keep connected with friends and find fun ways to play music since it is risky to visit bars and nightclubs the way we used to. As more DJs began to livestream, sites like Facebook and Instagram started removing these videos of live streamers.
Here are my four favorite features of Twitch not typically found on other social sites:
Chat - Twitch’s chat feature is very easy to use and the use of custom emojis by the different streamers make it a playful look and feel
Background Music - With Twitch, if you leave the app the music of the stream you’re watching KEEPS PLAYING! Wish you could leave the app to send a text or scroll instagram and still listen to what you’re watching? Not something you can do with Facebook and Instagram. With Twitch, you can.
Sound Quality - What you hear from the app is far better quality than Facebook and Instagram. Even if you’re not an audiofile, you’ll be able to tell the difference.
Casting - You know how you can cast your Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ or YouTube to your TV? You can do that from the Twitch app too! So if you’re watching a DJ Drew’s Saturday Night Party, you can cast the show to your TV, listen through your sound system and keep using your phone like you normally would.
Give Twitch a try and discover something new. Check me out at Twitch.tv/GetDjDrewMusic and download the app for ease of use.
